We have to admit that the past week was one of the most important and busy of the year as two significant industry conferences were taking place at the same time: ICANN 51 in Los Angeles and HostingCon Europe in Amsterdam. Fortunately, the .CLUB team was able to divide and conquer, with a presence at both events.
HostingCon was held in Europe for the first time, together with our partners Reseller Club. The conference lasted two days with the focus of “building valuable business connections while expanding your knowledge of the industry.” At HostingCon Europe they had 18 education sessions including two keynotes based on a variety of topics related to the industry. The “gTLD” Panel discussion was one of the highlights of day one, exploring the impact of new domain extensions on the industry and it’s meaning for the hosting world. Participants included the domain registries .CLUB and Rightside as well as 1&1’s Robin Rudat and Fasthosts’ Bruce Roberts.
During the panel, our .CLUB member, Felix Waltenberger mentioned “We have noticed some .Club domains linking to Facebook pages. This could be a good way to build up a fanbase.” It is indeed a good way to use a .Club domain name and a good example of a company that is doing that is www.AshleyBridget.club.
While some of the .CLUB team members were present at ICANN 51, Felix and I were very pleased to be at HostingCon taking the opportunity to network with potential partners as well as solidifying existing relationships. We had our own booth at the conference where people interested in the new .CLUB extension could come and discuss more. By the way, I hope you visited us at our booth during the conference!
Even though this premiere industry conference and trade show for the hosting and cloud industry was in Europe for the first time, we were able to meet with recognized thought leaders and members of experienced management teams for a productive and enjoyable conference.
We are looking forward to another HostingCon in Europe!
